The goal | The course provides an understanding of surfactants, specific molecular structure of surfactants, properties and behavior in aqueous solutions and organic solvents. Acquiring knowledge of manufacturing processes and applications of surfactants in industry. Polymeric surfactants; advantages of polymeric surfactants compared to small molecules, traditional surfactants. Understanding of adsorption phenomena at the L/G, L/L and L/S interfaces relevant to the application of surfactants in stabilization of emulsions and foams, wetting agents, solubilizers, detergents and softeners.
The outcome | After the students fulfilled all the requirements and passed the exam, they are acquired knowledge on surfactants and their properties, understand the basic phenomena involved in any application. The students are capable to choose the right surfactant for specific application.
