The goal | Knowledge on paper, cardboard and paperboard, their properties and production. Knowledge of the complete technology of paper manufacturing and its specificities. | |||
The outcome | Students know the composition of paper and the ways of manufacturing paper, cardboard and paperboard. Students understand the basic process operations and equipment applied to manufacture these materials. Students know the material properties and testing procedures. Students develop the capability to approach problem solving in a competent and organized fashion. Students acquire knowledge that enables them to work in industrial practice. | |||

Contents of lectures | 1. Introduction. Production and consumption of paper and derivatives at the global and domestic level. 2. Definition and properties: Paper, cardboard and paperboard. 3. Raw materials for paper, cardboard and paperboard. Cellulose. Auxiliary raw materials. 4. Water in paper production technology. 5. Paper production technology 6. Calandering of paper. Rolling of paper. 7. Additional processing of paper and paperboard. Refinement of paper and paperboard. 8. Control and regulation of the technological process. 9.
