The goal | The aim of the course is to introduce students to and master the basic principles of the technological process of making casts of the various materials.Beside traditional methods of production, is to be informed about the modern procedures and further developments in the field of metalcasting.. | |||
The outcome | The student will be able to set the methodological stages for making die-cast concrete products in various materials as well as professional assessment of technological and commercial opportunities for the realization of the task. | |||

Contents of lectures | • Introduction-The general terms of casting materials • The pattern of technological flow of material with the classification and description of the equipment-necessary materials, equipment, stages of development and production processes • Procedures for melting and casting materials • Procedures for making molds and cores • Modeling and design of castings and tooling • Rapid prototyping (RP) • New technologies • The finish and quality control of cast material | |||
Contents of exercises | Practical classes consist of: a) experimental and demonstration exercises in foundry metal casting lab and -some of foundries, b) The arithmetical exercises in preparation of necessary materials, energy and equipment to produce molten material c) demo sessions in the virtual modeling of casting processes and tools through CAE techniques | |||
