The goal | Introducing the student s to the: types, roles and functions of the packaging; most common materials for maufacturing of packaging; area of application of the particular packaging materials and shapes; properties of packaging materials of importance for their application; manufcturing of most common packaging shapes. Acquiring the knowledge necessary for improving in the field of packaging. | |||
The outcome | Students are trained to independently select appropriate material and packaging shape for packaging of the certain product. Students know how to apply and how to manufacter most common packaging products. | |||

Contents of lectures | Clasification and functions of packaging. Assurance of packaging functions. Criteria for selection of packaging shape. Legislation in the field of packaging. Types and properies of glass used for packaging. Manufacturing of glass containers. Apllication of glass containers. Metals and alloys used for packaging (stainless and tinplate steels, aluminium and aluminium alloys). Types of metal packaging. Processing of metals and alloys for packaging applications. Types and properies of plastic materials used for packaging. Manufacturing the packaging of plastic materials. Apllication of plastic packaging.
