The outcome | The course includes basic information about the sources and the origin of air and water pollution. The student should acquire knowledge on how to choose locations for monitoring, how to properly take a representative sample, how to choose suitable methods of analysis and to assess the reliability of the monitoring results.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | The program of the course explains the monitoring process, monitoring regimes and defines the permissible levels. It includes kind, nature and the sources of air pollution, air sampling and analysis, the procedures used in monitoring stations, the method of processing and verifying results. Nature and sources of water pollution, water sampling and sample preparation for analysis, methods for the analysis of drinking water, surface water and wastewater are also the topics of the course as well as the methods for detection of dissolved gases, cations, anions and organic matter.
