The goal | The aim of the course is to give good basic knowledge concerning the obtaining, structure, properties and application of bioactive and medical fibers. The acquired knowledge enables the student to develop multidisciplinary approach to new textile materials and technologies, and development of new bioactive and medical fibes, as well as the work autonomy in research.
The outcome | Students will be able to use acquired knowledge about bioactive and medical fibers and textiles as a theoretical and practical base in scientific research and professional work in the area of textile and technical materials. Students reach basic knowledge about contemporary bioactive and medical fibers and products, and develop ability to critical analysis of existing knowledge and predict behaviour of these materials in exploitation.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Course provides fundamental knowledge about bioactive and medical fibers, with emphasis on processes for their obtaining, their structure, properties and possible application. Course covers: fibers with programmed biological activity, fibers used for obtaining of wound dressing, implantable medical materials and drug delivery, as well as textile products for compression therapy.
Contents of exercises | Laboratory practice covers obtaining and characterisation of chemisorption fibers, bioactive fibers, as well as physico-mechanical properties of textile materials used for compression therapy.
