The goal | Familiarization with the fundamentals of clothing comfort as well as relationship between properties of clothing textile materials and garment comfort. Understanding of body appearance perception and its relation to basic garment parameters (design, sizing and fit, appearance retention, drape, feature retention during wear and care cycles). Familiarization with specific comfort requirements for particular types of clothing. | |||
The outcome | Students aquire the knowledge that will enable them to successfuly design comfort clothing textiles according to the product end-uses and customer demand. | |||
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | The course provides basic knowledge of thermal, tactile and psychological comfort as well as environmental factors influencing the perception of comfort. Theoretical and practical knowledge about the mechanisms of heat, air and water vapor transfer through textile materials are presented. Knowledge about the relationship between subjective tactile sensations and objectively measurable properties of textile materials and clothing are also involved. Thermal and tactile clothing comfort testing methods are reviewed. The aspects of psychological comfort related to the aesthetic properties of clothing are presented. | |||
