The goal | Acquiring knowledge about the theoretical and physical basis of air pollution modeling, an insight into the application of these models, as well as into methods and tools used in practical problems.
The outcome | Understanding the phenomena of atmospheric dispersion of pollutants and its significance in the environment modeling. Through individual work on seminar assignments, students are trained to find solutions for modelling a concrete example of the pollution source, meteorological and local situations.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Types of atmospheric pollution sources. Methods and models for assessing emissions. The influence of meteorological parameteres and local factors on atmospheric dispersion. Preprocessing of meteorological data. Physical and mathematical models of atmospheric dispersion. Validation of atmospheric dispersion models. Guidelines for the practical application of models. Model based on artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Contents of exercises | Students are due to create a seminar paper that compises an analysis of a specific source of pollution, meteorological situations and local factors. Within this analysis, students are required to provide an overview of applicable models of atmospheric dispersion and to propose the application of one of them.
