The goal | Students will get acquainted with the technology of printed electronics, primarily with processes and materials used in this technology. Acquiring fundamental knowledge on printing methods used for electronic components and devices manufacturing, application of thin films in optoelectronics, component functionality in devices manufactured by printing as well as protection of components and devices. Students will get to know the working principles of solar cells, light emitting diodes, thin film transistors, energy storage systems (batteries and supercapacitors) as well as characterization methods for printed electronic components and devices. The course includes a term paper.
The outcome | Students will acquire knowledge essential for designing materials for printed electronics applications. They will gain the skills needed to understand the interconnection between synthesis, processing and structure of a material as well as knowledge on characterization methods used for acquiring materials properties important for application in energy conversion and storage.
