The goal | The goal of the course is to provide students the knowledge about dependence between structure, properties, processing and applications of ceramic and glass materials. By favour of knowledge obtained at this course, students will be able to analyse properies of ceramic and glass materials as a function of structure and microstructure and design processes for production of materials of defined properties.
The outcome | By successful completion of this course student will be able to participate in research and critically analyze and evaluate literature data in the field of ceramic materials in order to improve the properties of the existing materials and to designe new types of ceramic materials.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | The course provides principles for ceramic and glass science and engineering. It analyzes: the structure of different traditional and advanced ceramic and glass materials, types of deffects and their influence on material diffusivity and properties, mechanisms of mass and electrical transport, solid-state reactions, mechanisms of sintering, properties of ceramic and glass materials. Students prepare seminars related to the properties of ceramic materials as a function of structure and microstructure.
