The goal | The objective of the course is to provide the students the knowledge of basic physico-chemical processes that occur during the production and application of building materials based on clay, mortars based on cement, lime and gypsum, aggregates and concrete, insulation and refractory materials; to indicate the influence of processing parameters on the properties of the obtained materials; as well as to enable the students to master the characterization methods, control quality and environmental protection during the building materials manufacturing.
The outcome | The course introduces students to the properties, structure, technologies of construction materials processing and the specific and standard methods for their characterization.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Special attention is paid to high-temperature processes that occur during the production of building materials, as well as the influence of processing parameters on the structure and properties of the building materials based on clay, binders based on cement, lime and gypsum, aggregate and concrete, insulation, and refractory materials. Students are introduced to the environment during the production of building materials and possibilities for the use of waste materials in the production of building materials.
