Contents of lectures | History of Canning. Quality of metallic materials used in different packaging applications (can types or coatings). Processing of metals and alloys for packaging application. Introduction to sheet metal forming: (i) bending, (ii) deep drawing, (iii) stretching. Steel types for packaging (stainless steel and tinplate steel). Canning technology. Aluminum and aluminium alloys (1xxx, 3xxx and 5xxx wrought alloys) for packaging. | |||
