The goal | The objectives of this course are to give the student a basic understanding of theoretical inorganic chemistry; to understand how structure and bonding influence the physical properties and ; reactivity of inorganic molecules; to learn several theories of bonding, the advantages and disadvantages of each theory and which theory is most useful for each type of inorganic molecule; to introduce the synergy between the theoretical and practical aspects of inorganic chemistry via the close relationship of the laboratory work to the other components of the course.
The outcome | The student will have a broad knowledge of: the principles of atomic and molecular structures; chemistry of main group and transition group elements; the role of important chemical elements and their compounds in chemical technology. The student will be prepared to meet the demands of today's technological society.
