The goal | The course goal is to introduce students with fuels, characteristics of the combustion process, and calculations in process, kinetics and mechanism of combustion of fuels and flame propagation in gases. Students gain knowledge about combustion of different fuels. During the course students are introduced to causes of air pollution by combustion products and the possibilities of its reduction.
The outcome | Gaining knowledge about the specific properties of the combustion process that will enable the efficient conducting of the combustion process.Students are able to determine the combustion conditions based on the composition of the combustion products, as well as the theoretical and equilibrium flame temperature. Students gain knowledge about the mechanism of oxidation of hydrogen, carbon dioxide, methane and hydrocarbons. They are familiar with the problem of air pollution by the combustion process, as well as the active and passive measures of their reduction.
