The goal | Fundamental course for acquiring basic knowledge about complex DC circuits, transient analysis, AC circuits, measurements, electrical machines and electronics. | |||
The outcome | Acquiring basic knowledge required for understanding how electrical measurement, control systems and electrical machines work, how they are designed, as well as information students can put to use in electrochemical engineering. | |||

Contents of lectures | Basic DC network analysis for linear circuits. Thevenen theorem. Transient analysis in DC circuits with R-L and R-C elements (first order). Basic AC network analysis - phasor and symbolic methods. Three-phase balanced circuits - delta and wye configuration. Rotating magnetic field, asynchronous motor, DC motors. Serial, shunt and compound motors. Fundamentals of applied electronics. Semiconductors - diodes, transistors and their use in amplifiers. Negative feedback loop and its use in electronics and control systems. Microelectronics, integrated circuits, operational amplifiers and their use in electrical measurements, voltage and current regulators. Digital electronics - A/D and D/A converters. Electrical and electronic measurements - principles. Balanced circuits used in measurements - electronic bridges. Electronic measurements of non-electric quantities - temperature, deformation, pressure, flow, pH, etc. Data acquisition systems. | |||
Contents of exercises | Transient states in circuits with capacitor and coil. Operational amplifier. Analog and digital quantity measurements using data acquisition systems. Voltage regulator. Current-voltage characteristic of a diode. Half-wave and full-wave rectifier. | |||
