The goal | The goal of the course is to introduce students to the basic as well as advanced knowledge of structure and reactivity of organic compounds, relation between physical and chemical properties and structure of organic compounds, planning of synthetic pathways of organic compounds and their applications.. | |||
The outcome | Student will acquire the basic theoretical knowledge in organic chemistry, and with practical knowledge on technical work and operation from laboratory for organic chemistry gave an capability for solving tasks related to synthesis and reactivity of organic compounds. It will also provide an ability to develop new ideas and a good understanding of the learning process, and expertise to critically analyze and link new and complex ideas. | |||

Contents of lectures | Classification and nomenclature of organic compounds. Functional groups. Alkanes and cycloalkanes. Structure and stereochemistry of organic compounds. Alkenes, dienes and alkines. Aromatic hydrocarbons (benzen and arenes). Alkyl and aryl halogenides. Alcohols, ethers and phenols. Organic nitrogen compounds. Aldehydes and ketones. Carboxylic acids and their derivatives. Heterocyclic compounds. Natural products. | |||
