The goal | The overall goals of the course are provision of the basic knowledge of the problem of degradation and protection of the environment, sources of pollution and their impact, as well as the basic elements of technologies for reducing pollution emissions. The recognition of the possible health hazards in the work environment; the evaluation of hazards, the occurrence of harmful agents in the workplace, while also accounting for environmental protection. The close link between occupational and environmental health is emphasized, since the prevention of pollution from industrial sources, through adequate handling and disposal of hazardous effluent and waste, should be started at the workplace level. | |||

Contents of lectures | Atmosphere: ozone chemistry, depletion of the ozone layer; the chemical composition of air; the sources of air pollution, the most important air pollutants and the main global problems; origin and control of pollutant emission. Hydrosphere: the chemical composition of natural water; the physico-chemical processes in water; the sources of water pollution; the most important water pollutants, their physico-chemical reactions; the consequences of pollution and the control of pollutant emission. Importance of the occupational safety: occupational safety legislation, occupational safety rules, sources of dangers, detection of dangers, risk asessment, risk management, occupational accidents, hazardous materials and healt. | |||
