The goal | Exploring and mastering various stages of production of biotech and the whole technological process through theory and practice, along with carrying out the calculation (material, energy balances, stoichiometry of the product, process kinetics) and the evaluation of the quality of the product produced biotechnological production.
The outcome | Through the course the student acquire the theoretical basis, assumes the necessary practical experience, which is important for future work on industrial production and management of biotechnology.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | The content of the course consists of theoretical and laboratory classes covering subjects Microbiology, Row materials for biotechnology, Food biotechnology, Enzyme engineering, Chemical biotechnology and Pharmaceutical biotechnology. In the framework of lectures will explore the basics related to a specific technology and necessary to perform laboratory exercises.
Contents of exercises | It is divided into several areas: • Enzymatic hydrolysis of starch • Isolation of potential producers of antibiotics • Immobilization of enyzme • The stoichiometry of biological processes • Separation of protein gel electrophoresis • Analysis of quality parameters of raw materials in the food biotechnology (malt, molasses, whey) • The production of fermented milk products • Ethanol production (raw material preparation, fermentation, separation products) • Microbiological and chemical analysis of food biotechnology products (beer, wine, vinegar)
