The goal | The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the relatively new field of bioceramic materials that are used in medicine and dentistry. Within this course it is planned that students master the techniques of synthesis and also to gain insight into the structure, properties and application of new bioceramic materials. Essay aims to introduce students to the latest scientific achievements in this field by analysis of literature and scientific papers.
The outcome | After successful completion of the course students are expected to master the theoretical knowledge in the field of ceramic biomaterials, methods of synthesis, characterization method and potential application.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | The course introduces to the students the propertiess, structure and procedures of synthesis of bioceramic materials applied in the fields of orthopedic and maxillofacial surgery and in dentistry. The course also provides the basics of process of establishing a connection between the organism and the bioceramic material as well as the process of biomineralization. After the exercises and writing the essay, the students are more familiar with the synthesis procedures and characterization of modern bioceramic materials. ;
