The goal | Acquisition of knowledge in the field of solid state chemistry about the structure and properties of polycrystalline and nanocrystalline materials. Introduction to the synthesis and methods for characterization of materials. Consideration of the structure and physico-chemical properties that are important for the application of materials. Acquiring knowledge about explaining the crystal structure of the material, as well as the influence of electronic configuration, chemical bonding and crystal structure to the material properties. Choosing the appropriate methods for exploration the properties of crystalline materials.
The outcome | The use of theoretical and practical knowledge of the crystal structure of material for explaining the physico-chemical properties that are relevant for the application of technically important materials. Ability to propose the optimal procedure for the synthesis of a crystalline material and the choice of appropriate method for characterization of materials. Analysis of the experimental results and comparison with literature data.
