The goal | The aim of the course is to provide basic teoretical and practical knowledge about structure, properties, obtaining and application of textile fibers, and makes students capable for its functional use in various area of textile technology.
The outcome | Students will be able to use acquired knowledge as a theoretical and practical base in other area of textile engineering. Students reach knowledge level that enables them to take an active role in production of chemical fibers, textile industry as whole, in the area of textile raw materials trade, etc.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | Course provides knowledge about chemistry and technology of textile fibers, both natural and chemical fibers, with emphasis on main class of fibers, their structure, properties and possible application. Course covers: clasification of textile fibers and their market potential, structure and properties of main class of fibers (natural and chemical cellulose fibers, keratin fibers, silk, chemical protein fibers, synthetic fibers, fibers from polymer mixtures, special-use fibers), influence of chemical and physical agents on their structure and properties, etc.
Contents of exercises | Laboratory practice covers characterisation of structure and properties of main class of fibers (natural and chemical cellulose fibers, keratin fibers, silk, chemical protein fibers, synthetic fibers), as well as influence of chemical and physical agents on their structure and properties.
