The goal | Gaining knowledge and thorough understanding of theoretical and practical principles of textile auxiliary agents and their use in textile processing route from raw materials to ready-made products. Gaining necessary knowledge for leading the textile processes in aqueous systems industrial practice. Establishing the solid basis for further knowledge development through team work and multidisciplinary approach to the solving of engineering problems in practice.
The outcome | Establishing engineering principles for managing various textile processes in industrial practice. Obtaining necessary skills for choosing, preparation and use of adequate textile auxiliaries within the most important stages of textile material processing.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | The course provides a thorough knowledge of classification and historical development of textile auxiliaries. The basic principles of water structure (as the main medium for the treatment of textile materials) on the interface between material and the treatment solution are given. Since the surface active agents (surfactants) are considered the main component of textile auxiliaries, the theoretical study underlines the functional properties of surface active agents (surfactants), the interaction of surfactants with textile fibres as well as with other components present in the system for the treatment of textile material. The end use and properties of the most important textile auxiliary agents are explained in detail (sizing agents; auxiliaries for fibre and yarn forming; pretreatment and dyeing auxiliaries). Additionally, some modern aspects of the treatment of textile materials (environmental, toxicological, etc.) are discussed together with alternative methods for the process improvement.
