The goal | To introduce the students to theory of phase diagrams and their importance in Inorganic Chemical Technology. To master the graphical analysis of the following processes: melting, vaporization, dissolution and crystallization in phase diagrams of multicomponent, multiphase systems. To apply and use the phase diagrams in establishing the material balance.
The outcome | Students gain knowledge about the fundamental types of phase diagrams and phase equilibria in one–, two– and three-component systems. Students are able to follow the processes such as melting, vaporization, dissolution and crystallization in phase diagrams of the real systems in Inorganic Chemical Technology. Students are having preknowledge to quantitavely and qualitatively control the appearance of a certain phases in multicomponent, multiphase systems.
Contents | ||||
Contents of lectures | fundamentals of phase diagrams, phase diagrams of one-component systems , theory of monovariant equilibrium, phase diagrams of two–component systems, following of the processes of dissolution and crystallization in certain types of phase diagrams of two–component systems, phase diagrams of three–component systems, following of the processes of dissolution and crystallization in certain types of phase diagrams of three–component systems.
Contents of exercises | Study of phase equilibria through examples of two- and three-component phase diagrams
